The defacto home festival for the progressive bluegrass movement, TBF is that and much more as it enters its 37th season. Newgrass all-stars Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas and others are regulars, but also expect a solid array of jamgrass, folk, alt-country and roots rock. There are few more spectacular festival locations, set in a box canyon with high peaks on four sides. The camping scene is legendary, with elaborate group camps, but there is ample condo-style accommodations as well. Unless you have kids along (or you value sleep more than music), don't miss the Nightgrass shows at the Sheridan Opera House and other venues in town.—Description by Festival Preview

Telluride Bluegrass finished off its 2010 lineup with a bang, adding four-time Grammy winner Lyle Lovett in a relatively rare festival booking and posting the first festival gig (outside of a SXSW showcase) for Court Yard Hounds, the new project by Dixie Chick sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire.

Also joining the fine mix of newgrass, bluegrass and jamgrass and the storied festival are folk-rock singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile, Keller & The Keels (a collaboration between jambanders Keller Williams and Larry and Jennie Keel), and upcoming  artist Ben Sollee, now making the rounds as a solo singer-songwriter after making his name as the cello instrumentalist in Abigail Washburn's Sparrow Quartet.

The five acts join a lineup that already included Alison Krauss and Union Station, Sam Bush Band, Yonder Mountain String Band, Telluride House Band (with Bush, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Edgar Meyer and others), Del McCoury Band, Hot Rize, Leftover Salmon, Dave Rawlings Machine (with Gillian Welch), Tim O'Brien Band and lots more.

Alison Krauss with Tony Rice at TBF 2007.

Alison Krauss & Union Station will return to the stage in a limited run in 2010, including a highly anticipated stop at Telluride Bluegrass Festival. The long-running contemporary traditional band, which played a key role in the renewed popular interest in bluegrass music, has not toured since 2007.

AKUS will appear with featured sideman, dobroist Jerry Douglas, who will also play with his own band and as a member of the Telluride House Band at the festival. The bookings mark the 12th appearance at Telluride by Krauss, beginning in 1989. Douglas will celebrate his 26th appearance at the festival. The 2010 festival, running June 17-20 at Town Park in Telluride CO, will be the 37th year for the influential roots festival.
