The influential Chicago indie weekend Pitchfork Music Festival will return for its fifth running July 16-18 at Union Park in Chicago. The festival is expected to follow up with its preliminary artist announcement as soon as tomorrow. A reunited Pavement and songstress St. Vincent are two of the rumored acts.

Consequences of Sound did a check-in on the status of Pemberton Music Festival, which had a splashy debut in Whistler BC in 2008 but did not have a sequel this year due to unresolved regulatory issues. The blog got no official word from promoter Live Nation, but quotes a local official to the effect that talks are ongoing and the festival could return this year or more likely in 2011. Meanwhile, Whistler has a Winter Olympics to worry about before attention returns to summer musical entertainment.

The three-year old festival Rocklahoma, which has made its name as a classic rock festival, will move up its dates to Memorial Day weekend and present a more diverse lineup after the festival promoter brought in national festival powerhouse AEG Live as production consultant.

The festival will run for three days over the holiday weekend in its regular location near Pryor OK. Many operational aspects of the festival, from ticketing to booking, will be upgraded with AEG's involvement. Previously, the festival had run for four days in July.

As for the festival's booking direction, the press release says this:

"In keeping with the ROCKLAHOMA tradition, the 2010 festival will include booking the most formidable classic rock bands in the world. But in addition, festival producers and AEG Live will create a much more diverse roster of rock artists that will include a large confluence of new active actists, as well as the class rock artist that ROCKLAHOMA is known for."

It sounds like it there will be an interesting lineup announcement to look forward to.
